Gary M. Clexton

Gary M. Clexton

Before law school, Gary Clexton was a social worker and then earned a Master in Public Heath degree, working as a public health educator for seven years. Since becoming an attorney in 1988, Gary has represented both individuals and companies in general commercial and civil lawsuits, including employment discrimination disputes, probate and estate litigation, bad faith insurance claims, contract disputes, civil rights and products liability.

Before joining Miller & Steiert in 2002, Gary was a Shareholder at the Pendleton, Friedberg, Wilson & Hennessey law firm and a founding Partner at the King Clexton & Feola firm. Gary completed an extensive, 40-hour training program for mediators and served as a volunteer mediator for Jefferson County Mediation Services and for the Probate Court of the City and County of Denver, in addition to conducting private mediations in civil cases. He conducts private mediation on civil cases, including probate and estate cases. He has also been an independent finder of fact. Gary lectures frequently to attorneys and professionals on a variety of litigation and employment issues. He has been retained to conduct independent fact-finding investigations and is a Personnel Hearing Officer for Jefferson County Department of Human Resources.

Gary has been an AV rated attorney for over 10 years and in 2012 was selected by his peers as a Super Lawyer in employment law.

Gary believes it is in his clients’ best interests to use his background, knowledge and skill to resolve conflict and minimize adversity. He uses his wide experience in litigation and alternative dispute resolution to maximize positive outcomes. Gary has been lead counsel in many diverse cases, taken hundreds of depositions, settled or mediated many cases, and successfully tried ones that did not settle. This experience makes him sensitive to the financial and emotional toll litigation has on clients, which has led to his focus on alternative resolutions.
